Hotel Stadtkrug :: tradition at its best

If you are looking for a restaurant with traditional austrian food served at it’s best and moderate prices, than consider about going out for dinner at Hotel Stadtkrug. This lovely and very old Hotel is located directly in the center of Salzburg and welcomes the visitor with old wall paintings and cosy furniture. Dining at the “Stadtkrug” is really something special. The kitchens prepare first class dishes with best quality ingredients to satisfy even the most pampered palate.

I came here twice last week and we tried some beef in aspic with paprika and carrots as a starter and continued with a decent roast fillet from a native cattle with mashed potatoes and vegetables. As I already mentioned prices are moderate so calculate with 8-10 € for the starters and between 15-20 € for main dishes. Prices for drinks are moderate too so all together you’re going to pay 30 € per person with two dishes and drinks.

They have a romantic rooftop garden, where you can sit outside and enjoy your meal in the evening sun. They don’t have many tables so reserve or let your consierge reserve a table for you in advance, before you go there.

And do you know what? People say that they serve the best Salzburger Nockerln in town here! If you are a fan of this super sweet super traditional desert full of egg and sugar my recommendation is eat this here. Because they always have to prepair that very special dish fresh you have to wait about 20 minutes for it.

And yes, they do speak english ;-)
